Helpful options and wisdom for a safe, meaningful fast.

Tips for Fasting
  • Consult your doctor: Especially if you have a medical condition or take medication that requires food when administering.

  • Stay hydrated: Drink 6-8, 8oz glasses of water daily.

  • Expect detox symptoms: Headaches and fatigue may occur as your body releases caffeine, sugar, and salt.

  • Be flexible & use wisdom: Modify the fast if needed for health reasons. Remember to pray and ask for guidance.

  • Fasting is between you and God: God is not looking for perfection; He is looking at the posture of your heart in obedience and surrender to Him.

  • Break your fast wisely: Be mindful of the foods you consume once your break your fast. This makes it easier on your digestive system. Eat lighter portions and try to avoid overeating!

  • If you get off track, DO NOT QUIT: Fasting takes practice. Pray and begin again[DS1]

Types of Fasts
  • Daniel Fast: Fruits, vegetables, whole foods, and water.

  • Partial Fast: Skipping one meal daily.

  • Selective Fast: Giving up specific items such as sweets, meat, or caffeine.

  • Sunrise-to-Sunset Fast: Eating after sundown.

  • Social Media Fast: No scrolling, posting, or commenting.

  • Entertainment Fast: No television, streaming, or sports.

  • News Fast: Pause political and news consumption

Foods to Avoid
  • Daniel Fast: Fruits, vegetables, whole foods, and water.

  • Note: A daily multivitamin is recommended
