“Share the
Love”
"Enlarging
God's Community by Being REAL!"
Overview of Plan
|
Our Goal
Our goal is to contact 5000
people with the Gospel message and add 500 new members to the St. John family.
We also want to baptize 100 new believers/converts in the year 2006.
Our Target
Our target is both relational
and geographic. Relationally, we are targeting
those who are within the
sphere of influence of our members - friends,
relatives, associates, and
neighbors. Geographically, we are targeting the neighborhoods that surround our
congregation for specific outreaches.
Our
Strategy
We will reach this goal as
each St. John member determines to be REAL with those in their network of
relationships and as we, corporately, are REAL with our community.
|
R - Be
Relational
We will develop meaningful
relationships with pre-Christians.
Getting It Done
1. Ask each member to begin by identifying their "Ten Most Wanted",
those they want to lead to Christ most urgently.
2. Share with each member how to connect with pre-Christian people
on non-threatening, relational grounds.
3. Share monthly
insights in bulletin on making relational connections with pre-Christians.
|
|
E - Be
Engaging
We will engagingly share the
good news about Christ.
Getting It Done
1. Teach each member how to share Christ in an attractive way that
connects with the needs and hopes of pre-Christians.
2. Hold monthly training sessions to help more St. John members
become comfortable with sharing their faith.
3. Encourage each member to share their faith personally and by
participating in St. John outreaches.
|
|
A - Be
Attractive
We will have attractive
worship and events.
Getting It Done
1. Preach on topics that are attractive to pre-Christians throughout
the year.
2. Fourth Sunday of each month we will preach specifically to
pre-Christians. The direction of the sermon and the details of the worship will
be uniquely tailored to engage the non-Christian. A clear presentation of the
gospel will be given on each fourth Sunday. The name of this Sunday is
"Share the Love Sunday".
3. Hold other
corporate events that will draw pre-Christians (e.g., concerts, dramas, picnics,
seminars, etc.)
4. Advertise existing ministries that are attractive to
pre-Christians (e.g., Singles Events, Couples Ministry, Men’s Ministry, Youth
Ministry etc.).
5. Ask each member to help us make our corporate gatherings
attractive by warmly greeting each person who sits next to them.
|
|
L - Be
Loving
We will lavish love on those
in our community.
Getting it Done
1. Have a monthly corporate outreach in which we share Christ with
our targeted community.
2. Plan special outreaches to major calendar dates and events
(Langston Homecoming weekend, State Fair of Oklahoma, back to school,
Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, spring break, Juneteenth, Black history, Super
Bowl, etc.)
3. Have each ministry and bible study unit plan at least one
outreach during the year.
4. Develop ministries that address specific community needs.
